Residents

Residents at SAIL are treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. Clear house rules exist to ensure safety and harmony, but our culture is one of encouragement rather than punishment.

What we ask

We expect residents to

  • Engage honestly with staff
  • Respect the building, staff, and other residents
  • Work towards greater independence where possible

What we give

In return, we provide

  • Consistency
  • Patience
  • Unwavering support

A clean start

We do not define individuals by their past

SAIL gives all residents a clean start, regardless of what has happened to them before. As long as someone is willing to engage, respect boundaries, and work with us, we are prepared to support them — whether that is a second chance, or a fourth.

We recognise that homelessness is often the result of multiple, overlapping factors: trauma, substance misuse, mental ill-health, relationship breakdown, institutional experiences, or lack of support. There is rarely a single cause, and there is rarely a quick fix.

Thinking about a place here?

A referral from a local authority, agency or partner organisation is how a place is arranged — but you do not need one to ask a question first. If you are not sure who could refer you, ring us and we will talk it through.
