Privacy notice
This website collects nothing about you. This page explains what happens to the information you send us when you make a referral.
Who we are
The organisation responsible for the information you send us is Supporting Adult Independent Living Ltd, Block 1, Town Wharf, Flat 3, Cavell Close, Walsall, WS2 9NG. If you have any question about this notice, or about information we hold, contact andrew@supportinghomeless.org or call 01922 612090.
What this website collects
Nothing. There are no forms on this site, no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. The only things you can do here are read the pages, download the referral pack, and use the telephone and email links. If you choose to open the map or a social media link, that company will see your IP address and apply its own privacy policy — nothing loads until you click.
Information you send us about someone else
The referral pack is a document you download, fill in and send back to us. It asks for information about the person being referred, and it is thorough on purpose: we cannot judge whether we can support someone safely without it. It includes:
- their name, date of birth, current location and National Insurance number
- their GP and any medical or mental health needs
- substance use, medication and daily-living support needs
- any offending history, probation involvement, or licence conditions
- known risks, including any history of violence, fire-setting, self-harm or suicide risk
- any safeguarding concerns
Much of that is sensitive personal information. We hold it to the same standard as the rest of our records, and we only use it to assess the referral and, if the placement goes ahead, to support that person properly.
Why we are allowed to use it
We assess referrals because it is necessary for us to decide whether we can provide supported housing, which is our legitimate interest. For the sensitive information about health, offending and risk, we rely on there being a substantial public interest — the provision of social care and the safeguarding of vulnerable adults — and on the consent of the person being referred. If you are referring someone, please make sure they know this pack is being sent to us and what it contains.
How to send it, and what that involves
We accept referrals by email and by WhatsApp because referrers need a route that works, but neither is fully secure in transit. If the referral is sensitive, please call us first and we will arrange a safer route, or post it. If you would rather not send something by email at all, telephone us and we will talk it through.
Who sees it
Only the staff involved in assessing the referral and, if it goes ahead, supporting that person. We do not share it with anyone else without consent, except where the law requires it — for example, where there is a safeguarding concern, or where the police or a regulator are entitled to it. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for marketing.
How long we keep it
If a referral is not taken up, we delete the pack and anything attached to it within 12 months. If the placement goes ahead, the information becomes part of that person's care record: we keep it while we support them, and afterwards for as long as our regulator and insurers require.
Their rights, and yours
A person whose information we hold can ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we are using it. Contact us using the details at the top of this page and we will respond within one month. If you are the person referred, and you would rather we did not hold this, please tell us — though it may mean we cannot go on to offer housing.
Complaining
If you are unhappy with how we have handled someone's information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page. This version is dated 25 September 2026.
